Two Baptisms on Lazarus Saturday

On Saturday, March 25/April 7, two more people were baptized into the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church: the Orthodox Christian Church, after the liturgy of Lazarus Saturday and Annunciation (which coincided this year).

The newly-illumined ones are a couple which has faithfully attended our parish since its inception, but had been members of a Protestant denomination. Orthodoxy appealed to them immediately, but they needed time to come to understand our faith and make it their own before making such a momentous decision.

As per traditional Orthodox practice, which the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece (the Old Calendar Church) maintains, the converts were baptized by three, full immersions in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These were the 12th and 13th baptisms that Father Anastasios has performed.

We welcome Eleutherios (Charles) and Velma into the Church with great joy!
